Farms & Markets
The LaPorte area hosts several farms, orchards, and markets that showcase the best of the region’s local flavors and traditions. Visitors can stroll through flower patches, pick apples straight from the tree, or explore markets filled with handcrafts and fresh produce. Some farms even offer hands-on experiences, such as tours or seasonal festivals.
Garwood Orchards
A family farm operating since 1831, providing a wide range of U-pick fruits and vegetables, a farm market, and seasonal events.
Sandy Acres Clydesdales
A family-owned farm dedicated to Clydesdale horses. They offer VIP tours where visitors can feed and brush the horses, mini donkeys, Shetland ponies and fainting goats.
Farmed & Forged Market
A local, producers-only craft farmers market that supports area vendors and offers a variety of farmed and handcrafted items within a 100-mile radius. Features farmers, artisans, restaurants, events and live music.
Burek Farms
Open May to October, Burek Farms is a community-focused initiative in La Porte, dedicated to sustainable agriculture and education.
Lakeside Lavender & Herbs
A family-owned farm nestled in the countryside just north of La Porte. Visitors can stroll through the herb gardens and shop for all sorts of goodies in the on-site store. They host seasonal u-pick lavender days (typically in June–July), craft workshops, Saturday morning yoga, and other community events throughout the year.
