Pine Lake Ski Beach
From swimming and sunbathing to picnics by the lake, Pine Lake Ski Beach is made for all-day fun.
If you grew up around La Porte, chances are you’ve spent a summer afternoon at Ski Beach. It’s the bigger of the two lakefront beaches, with plenty of sand to spread out on and a great view of the Lake.
Folks come here to swim, toss a frisbee, picnic with friends, or just kick back and watch the boats go by.
Hours
Ski Beach is typically open seasonally from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Hours are usually around 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with lifeguards on duty during prime summer days. Always check for posted signs or updates from the La Porte Park Department if you’re planning a trip, as hours may vary depending on staffing and weather.
Parking
Parking is available right by the beach inside Soldier’s Memorial Park. Spots are generally plentiful but can fill up on hot weekends. Once you’re parked, it’s just a short walk down to the sand.

You’ll find restrooms, changing facilities, and designated swim areas that make it easy for families to enjoy safely.

As part of Soldier’s Memorial Park, Ski Beach benefits from all the extras the park has to offer: walking trails, sports facilities, open green space, and gathering areas.

Fishing is a favorite pastime on Pine Lake, and Ski Beach gives you a few options to cast from the shoreline or nearby piers.
People commonly catch bass, perch, bluegill, and crappie.

Arrive early on weekends! The beach draws a crowd on hot days, and the best parking spots go quickly.
Bring your gear: Chairs, umbrellas, and coolers are all welcome and make the day more comfortable.
Check water conditions: Pine Lake is big enough that waves from boats can change things up. Great for splashing, but something to keep an eye on with little ones.
Stay for the view: Sunsets over Pine Lake are some of the best in town and Ski Beach gives you a front-row seat.
