Fox Park

Fox Park has been part of La Porte’s story for generations, first dedicated back in the early 1900s as a lakeside green space for the community.

Today it still carries that spirit, stretching along the shoreline of Clear Lake and connecting into the Chessie Trail, making it easy to walk or bike into the park from town.

The Dennis F. Smith Amphitheater hosts summer concerts, while the skate park and ball fields stay busy with games and gatherings. You’ll also find basketball courts, playgrounds, and plenty of shaded picnic areas.

With its blend of history, lake views, and year-round activities, Fox Park continues to be one of La Porte’s most loved outdoor spaces.

Fox Park is open daily from dawn to dusk.

Admission is free

Free parking lots are available inside the park, though they can fill up on busy weekends.

Leashed dogs are welcome. Pets are not allowed in playground areas.

Dennis F. Smith Amphitheater *

The amphitheater is the park’s centerpiece for live music and community events.

In summer, it comes alive with concerts, performances, and gatherings along the lakefront.

Thrills & Spill Skate Park

The skate park features ramps, rails, and open riding areas for all skill levels.

It’s a well-used space that gives skaters a place to practice and enjoy the sport.

Clear Lake Access

Fox Park stretches along the shoreline of Clear Lake, giving visitors plenty of ways to enjoy the water.

A boat ramp makes it easy to launch small craft, and the lake is a nice spot for paddlesports.

The Clear Lake Trail follows much of the shoreline, adding spots to fish, take in the view, or connect your walk with the rest of the city’s trail system.

* If you’d like to reserve a shelter or the amphitheater in advance, the La Porte Parks & Recreation Office handles all rentals (call 219-326-9600) and posts rates and availability on their Facility Rentals page. Reservations are recommended to ensure the shelter is available during peak times.
